I am looking to move to the Denver area within the next few months. I currently live in Fort Worth Texas and grew up in Southwest Arkansas. I have never been to Colorado, but am looking forward to the great opportunity to expand my horizons.

What would be some of the things a new resident must have? Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

Rather vague inquiry...

You can get winter clothes when you get here, other than that, whatever you now have should suffice.

If you go skiing up in the mountains consider a Subaru Outback with AWD or a 4x4 of some sort. For winter in mostly flat Denver, a front wheel drive car works fine for most people.

If possible, have a job lined up for your arrival, or being at least 4 months of living expenses.

Smart guys show up in a Bronco's jacket/hat.

An appreciation for snow. We're from here but just moved back after spending 12 years in Dallas. We've had almost as much snow in the last month as we did in 12 years down there.

You also must have the turn signals disabled in your vehicle...you don't want to accidentally use them!
You also have to get used to driving in the left lane...the right lane is for passing here.
you will need a MMJ card and a top of the line bicycle along with the spandex outfit....if you're a man with a beard you might want a recumbent bike...if your beard is white, it's a law that you HAVE to have a recumbent bike.

funny, having moved to Fort Worth (where the OP is living) from the UK in February this year, I was amazed to find that there is a definite aversion to use turn signals here too. It appears to be an invitation to challenge your impertinence to want to make a turn or lane change! Like the OP, I am also going to be relocating to Denver in the next few months (just working out the relocation package) so useful post for me in my daily stalking of this forum
