Hi,

Would Breckenridge or Keystone be better to take our kids (7 and 4 years old) up on the mountains for ski lessons for the first time? Or if you can suggest any other area around Denver for lessons.

Thanks in advance!

Default Others

1. Look at Loveland as the drive is so much less.

2. Winter Park is known for their kids' programs.

3. Copper is as close as Keystone and Breck and has a very good program that our daughter enjoyed.

4. The most famous of all in Denver is: https://www.eskimoclub.com/default.aspx and you don't have to drive. Kids love this.

I would avoid Breck as it is usually the most crowded, and a popular tourist spot.

We did lessons at Copper last year and like them, very organized but felt that they took too long to get my younger kids "up" and didn't push them enough (had never skiied before). This year we're doing the Winter Park four consecutive week program and love it. They get the same instructor and same group of kids so the instructor really gets to know them and their ability and the group progresses as a whole. At Copper I really felt that the kids were put in groups with a mixed ability level which made it difficult for them to progress as quickly.

I found a package at Keystone that will cost around $60 for a full day with equipment and clothes. My 4 year is asking. There is some good information here http://www.keystoneresort.com/ski-an...aspx#age36#Top

This may not be of interest to you, but I have heard from others that Red River (NM) is a good place for kids and families before hitting the more serious stuff. You might research and see.

How did you get $60 for a full day?

I put in any date, single lesson, 4 year old with gear and it is :

$147.00 for school
$25.00 for rental
= $172 a day for Keystone

Breck is $163.00.
Loveland is $109.00

Personally I see more kids in Breckenridge and I think it is more family friendly.

Weird. I thought I saw it on there. Oh well. I am still taking her up. She loves the snow.
