I am a web developer and looking for the best company to work for from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins. I know there are a ton in Denver so hoping another current or past employee can shed some light on this. I have just started my search and interested in the quality of the company, how they view their employees. Thanks!

glassdoor.com can be helpful. While there are many, many great companies in the Denver Metro, I consistently hear "stay away!" comments about DISH/Echostar.

Amen to that! That place has such a bad rap I thought I would chime in to second Brian's thoughts!

Thank you both, I have checked out glassdoor in the past but need to go back and re-check them, last time was for the Springs. Also I will stay away from the two you mentioned, I checked them out and sure enough I found the same. I want to work at a very dynamic type company, lots of energy. Next week the calls should be booming, just started spreading my name around last week and got 5 calls on a very slow period, just need to check each company as they come in.

If you google "Simply Hired"...there are job listings for net/web developers. Just a thought!

Thanks SheridanL, very thoughtful, but it's about working for the best companies around Denver, I really have no issue getting a job as I am a senior web developer but man it's the dead beat companies I am trying to avoid like flu x 2.

I work for Starz Entertainment. Check out starz.com to see if there are any postings for your skill set. Great company to work for.

I have many colleagues that used to work for Dish/Echostar and they have all said it is a terrible work environment. I still have friends there and they complain about it all the time.

You've probably already referenced the DBJ's list and COBiz' list, but just in case:

There's also many other "best places to work" lists for Denver/Boulder, just Google. Outside Magazine's 2011 list for Boulder is accurate as I know at least one person working at each of their noted companies and all rave about their respective employer and how they treat their employees.

Timmyy thanks for the heads-up on Starz, they don't have anything that fits right now but will keep a watch.

Idlewile that is a great article, thanks for posting it!

I think it's tough to know what the work environment will be like until you're there. I switched jobs in late 2011 and the company in question had fairly negative reviews on glassdoor.com, but I've had a positive experience so far. The glassdoor reviews almost caused me to not take the job, but I'm glad I did. Obviously, things could change for me after I've been there for awhile, but I'm glad I made the move so far.
