We're purchasing a new home and would like to get some cabling run for network and also some kind of whole house sound and surround sound installed. Anyone know any reputable contractors who do this?

It's a great DIY project if you are interested. In a new house (no drywall yet) it's really super easy, but I'm not sure if that's what you meant by 'new home'.

If the drywall isn't up yet, ask your home builder to do it (or have his electrician do it) or recommend a contractor.

If the walls are finished, I can recommend Audio Video Professionals in Parker. Their web site is Audio Video Professionals Home. We used them about a year ago to hang a big screen TV on a wall and hide/run all the wires (power, audio/video from other components, etc.) in the wall. They did a neat/clean job and were reasonably priced.

Sorry -- it's 10 years old, and just new to us.

We had a new home built to our specs and we did the wiring with speakers in the ceilings in several rooms and on the deck, plus intercom doorbell, burglar alarm, cable TV, internet wiring and wiring in the walls for our stereo speakers. We had over 40 can lights put in with all the other wiring work. Though your new home is 10 years old, wiring it up is still a good idea. If they have to rip open the ceilings to do this, have some can lights put in if needed, get it all done at one time before you move in if possible.

we used Electronic Integration. they designed the system for us and I think the wiring-I dunno, it was my husband's baby (his man-cave). I will say that hubby is very happy in his cave.
