I have a "screening" interview with Cherry Creek in a couple of weeks for a special ed position. I believe this is something they basically do for everyone that applies so I am hoping to stand out and be called back for a "real" interview with a specific school. Their website is very generic and doesn't really say anything about their specific philosophy or anything like that. So if anyone has any specific information about how their programs work for moderate needs at the elementary level (resource rooms vs. full inclusion, do they use specific programs, etc.) I would be SO grateful. I'd love to get into this district! Thanks!

While I cannot speak for the elementary level, at the high school level, the SPED philosophy is to get students into the least restricted environment. Depending on the situation, kids are mainstreamed with or without a resource period, there are resource rooms for those who need it, and programs that integrate SPED students academically and socially with the rest of the students.

Thanks! I'm hoping there is some resource option for elementary students- I currently teach in a resource setting and I know I would hate a job as an "inclusion teacher" so as much as I would love to get into the district I wouldn't take a job like that. I guess I will have to ask some specific questions in my interview!
