People in Denver area
I was wondering how friendly the people in the Denver area are. I have friends who just moved to Cleveland, OH and they can't get over how friendly and down to earth the people are. Their children have been so welcomed and made friends easily despite moving towards the end of last school year. They feel life is so much easier than it was here in the D.C. metropolitan area where people can be pretty stressed and impersonal. Traffic is way less and they just can't get over how warm and welcoming the people are. My friend calls them really good salt of the earth kind of folk! How would you describe the people of the Denver metropolitan area in this regard?

True True True
My wife and I had the same "eureka" moment when we moved to Col Spgs last year and saw how nice and friendly people are.
It was MONTHS before we heard a car horn, and rarely a siren. Back in Northern VA or DC, you hear horns all the time. Sirens too. We are still amazed at it. Drivers wait while you back out of a spot, back in Fairfax they blare the horn, stomp the gas and give you the finger as they rip past you.
A totally different world out here. I make it a point to say hello to as many folks as I can to keep that friendly spirit going. I never want to go back to that dreaded area back east. Crowding makes people adversarial, territorial and aggressive. Scientists have proven this phenomena by crowding lab rats together and seeing how they behave. The term rat race is no joke.
s/Mike from back east, and I ain't going back.

I need to respond to this one!!!!
Hi,
This is my story.......I have been alot of places in my life. I live in the land of Southern hospitality to give u a reference, NC. I visited CO 2 years ago, because this is one place I had never been and always wondered about. Actually I was thinking I may want to relocate out that way in the future.
I flew into Denver, and took a driving trip and made a little circle in a week, unfortunately I wasn't able to see EVERY city, but I had hit the ones I had known about at the time. I couldn't believe how diverse the area was, but I should have known since the geographical map tells it all....!!! Some areas were ME, and some areas were NOT ME. I am not a desert person, I like my trees and water. The areas I really liked were the more pricey areas, and I kind of came back with the feeling like I would lose the shirt of my back if I moved to the area. I totally gave up on CO, and tried not to think about it anymore and started checking into ID and OR. Well, I am still checking into ID and OR haven't gone out there yet but in the last 2 yrs all I keep thinking about were the people I met on my trip, and how friendly and awesome everyone was. Of course when u are travelling alone u have time to talk to people, but I can tell you about 5 people right off the top of my head that helped me in one way or another......!!! It would take too long for me to do this, so I won't.......BUT. The point to all this is..........I can't stop thinking about CO. I have COLORADO on my mind, and I can't seem to get it off. I think, although some of the terrain and the some of the cost of living was not what I needed, I think it would be worth relocating too just because of the people. THEY ARE AWESOME!!!
I truly know, or think I will end up in CO..........don't you? LOL

Compared to Southern Calif. people, where we use to live, Denver metro people are friendly. But, with almost any city nowadays, people just aren't as friendly as they use to be......because of crime. Even in Parker, which is suppose to have that "small town" atmosphere, people don't say "Hi" or "good morning" to others.
Some city's are worse than others on the "friendly" topic, but Denver people aren't to bad.
