I need opinions -- what is the likelihood of snagging a job in Colorado while still living in Indiana? The area I am including for job options ranges from Ft. Collins to Denver and anything in between.

I am looking for administrative work, simply because I have the most experience with it (about 5 years) and wish to stay away from sales.

If asked, I am willing to fly out to CO for a face to face interview, and I intend on following up via phone with employers once I've applied to these various positions.

Am I wasting my time completely? Do I absolutely need a CO address in order to be successful? I had a bad experience a few years ago moving to CA with no job in place and found myself moving back to IN after two months due to failure. I understand CA's unemployment percentage is one of the worst in the country, but I'm still hesitant to relive that experience in any state. All opinions are appreciated.

It's very possible, I got a job here while living in Florida and I know a lot of other people are doing the same. It will probably take a bit longer, but just keep sending out the resumes

Very encouraging. I have a friend who lives in Denver and she moved out there from Indiana in 2009 when the economy was certainly worse overall.

She happened to believe that unless you follow-up with an employer, there is no hope for being contacted because "your resume gets sent into a black hole." Is this what you did, Snikt? Or were you contacted simply once your resume was in their hands?

I'm hoping to move as soon as possible, and though I'd like to follow-up with every applied position, I'm not sure if it's realistic. I am working full time and am sending out my application left and right with all my free time.

I think it is possible in CO, just be honest.

CA is very difficult to break into unless you know someone, and that is because CA is SATURATED with people.

Nope, never sent follow-ups

Given how generic of a job you're looking for-- "administrative work"-- extremely unlikely.

Well, my the job I was seeking was more specific than "administrative work," I just chose to not post the details on here. Just as an update if anyone else was wondering the same thing, I received a call back and pre-screen from an employer TWO days after I applied, had a phone interview FIVE days later, Skype interview the day after, and snatched this job.. I can't believe it and I do believe that I am just VERY lucky.
