Can you give me your opinions/info. on the different mountain towns around Denver...I'd like to live as close to the mountains as possible but still within driving distance to the Brighton area (no more than 40 miles for sure). I've never visited the area and would like people's opinons that live there. Thanks!

There are no Mountain Towns within 40 miles of Brighton that I know of. The only option is within the Foothills of the Rockys, that would just about meet your distant requirements--that would be about a straight line west and that would be Boulder.

I suggested this before on a different thread of yours. You could try Lyons. More small-townish than Boulder, roughly the same distance.

I'm not exactly sure. It may be more than 40 miles from Brighton. There are really no areas close to Brighton that are in the mts.

My curiousity got the best of me and I looked up the distance on Mapquest. According to them, Lyons is 39 miles from Brighton, just inside your criteria. Of course, it all depends on where in Lyons to where in Brighton.

Try living on the Great Plains. If you are working in Brighton, live in Brighton and leave enough energy and time for the weekend trips to the mountains. Brighton is a up and coming city. It will prosper in the coming years because it is the northern area of the Denver International Airport. You can enjoy your days of work with no commuting hassles, live a little cheaper and maybe, just maybe, you may enjoy being a Plainsman. Remember most people in Colorado live on the plains, work on the plains, raise a family on the plains, recreate on the plains and will die and be buried on the plains.

Well, if you just head directly west from Brighton, you'll reach the closest places in the mountains to Brighton. 30-35 miles from Brighton.

You'll be in Boulder County. The area include places like Eldorado Springs; Pinebrook Hills; Gold Hill; Sunshine Canyon; Boulder Canyon, Sugarloaf.

I'm originally from New Mexico so I've lived most of my life on the plains...that's why I want to live on the western side of Denver. Also, the type of job I'm going to have makes me not want to live in the same town (working with homicides). Personally, I think it would be best to commute for reasons having to do with work.

There is a compromise situation: live somewhere west of Brighton where you can make a quick getaway to the mtns. Try Erie, Lafayette, Louisville. It is much easier to drive to work in the winter if you're not in the mtns.
