I apologize in advance for creating yet another "relocating to Denver" thread, but I am indeed relocating to Denver.

What neighborhoods would you suggest for young professionals? I'd like the ability to walk to restaurants & shops, and it seems like several neighborhoods in Denver provide that option.

Thanks so much in advance!

Where is work?
buying or renting?
What else is important?
What's the budget?

Work is downtown; i am looking to buy; the budget is $250,000-$300,000 (though obviously I'm ok with spending less).

I guess I'm looking for a fun neighborhood with cultural attractions/stuff to do on weekends that's pretty walkable. However, I want to also make sure that I don't end up in a dangerous neighborhood (sorry, I should have made that clear in my initial post).

How safe are the neighborhoods near downtown? So far I've mostly been looking at LoDo (seems too expensive), capitol hill, & uptown, but I'm certainly open to others.

Go to the Highlands. It has everything you need and is close to downtown.

West Wash Park (in name only) Highlands, Baker, Cap Hill, Congress Park, Berkeley.

Do you like historic, or modern? Single family or condo/townhome? Fixer or turn key?

Do a search on Zillow in that price range.
Now, eliminate the crap.
Then, eliminate the foreclosures because you will be too late to the action.

You are left with almost nothing that is "the ability to walk to restaurants & shops".

I live in Congress Park and love the area. It's fairly close to downtown (5 minute drive or 15 minute bus ride), it's clean and the homes seem a little more reasonably priced than some of the "trendier" neighborhoods like LoDo or Highlands. The neighborhood is also what I would refer to as slightly more "residential," meaning that it's a little quieter and more private than Capitol Hill or Uptown but I really like that about the neighborhood. Congress Park has a couple cool little neighborhood enclaves with some local restaurants and bars and the bars on Colfax are within walking distance as well.
