As someone who is considering a downtown move (single man, early 30's), give me your pros and cons of what living there was like. Thanks.

I currently live downtown, I've been here a month.

Pros: Possibility of living a car free lifestyle depending on where you work, good amount of stuff going on with all the bars/restaurants/sporting venues, easy access to Cherry Creek trail, easy access to highway if you drive to work.

Cons: It's pretty much the most expensive place to live in Denver. Parking is very expensive. There are more college-type residents than I was expecting, given how much we're paying in rent. We find it very loud, even though we live in the top corner unit of our building - this is not something we noticed when we looked at the place.

I've lived in various neighborhoods in and around downtown for almost 6 years now.

Pros: You can walk, take a short cab ride, bike/b-cycle, or use public transit to just about anything. Some of the best restaurants, entertainment, bars, places to work, learn, etc. all are close by. If you are ever bored it's very easy to find something to do.

Cons: Cost. CBD and LODO do not really have a neighborhood feel because so many people in the area at any given time do not live there.

The noise varies by which part of 'downtown' you are in. The Golden Triangle and most of the CBD is quieter than most of LODO and the ballpark area.

Are you looking for any specific information?

I lived in Brooks Tower for about a year or so when I was working in downtown Denver. Being someone who has lived in the 'burbs or even further out of the main city most of my life, I thought it was great. There was lots to do within walking distance, plenty of places to eat/drink, transportation was fairly easy, and the area was well-maintained. Being so close to the 16th street mail and in a more upscale section definitely helped. I'm not sure I would have felt the same about other parts of downtown. Parking can be an issue, especially around the holidays or big events, so if you are looking for a place, try to find one with a parking spot. For the few months we had to drive to Broomfield, getting in and out of the city was pretty easy compared to other major cities I've been in.
