Okay, I read the instructions. One car per green. The only thing that ever happens is that the first person to go when green goes. No one - that I've ever seen - beside my wife, pays attention. She let 2 cars go before she went. .it is ridiclous. It is obvious the "one car at a time" instruction is beyond the capability of denver drivers, and the entrace ramp people need a new freaking idea.

Try driving in Florida where everyone is 80 years old, this is child's play here

They create a drag race situation. Stupid. I am used to the ones in CA that alternate 2 cars per green, one lane at a time. No one has to jockey for position. I couldn't believe it when we moved here. Are there no traffic engineers that realize this is not the best way?

Most entrances have two signals, one for the left lane and one for the right. If it instructs people "one car per green," and there are two signals, two greens = two cars.

I've never seen only one signal at an on-ramp with two lanes but maybe I'm just not getting on at the right on-ramps.

I'm a Denver driver and my reading comprehension and driving capabilities are just fine. Maybe they do it differently in Chi-town?

I agree with Kibbie though, the drag race situation the cities set up with these lights are ridiculous. I usually just let the other person go no matter how long it takes them to realize I'm not going first.

I've never experienced any issues with the on-ramp meters here. They seem to be the same as in California. I always assumed they meant that only one car per lane, per green. Two cars always go at the same time. And no need for a drag race... because the traffic on the freeway is usually going about 5 mph. anyway lol! What's the hurry?

Depends on where, sometimes the traffic isn't going 5mph on C-470 when the stupid lights are still turned on, so you have to get up to 60-65 pretty quick. I've always seen 2 cars go at once since it's one car per green x2

Same here at US36 and Sheridan; the traffic is never backed up and is usually going over the speed limit (this is right where it goes from 65 to 55). It's always crazy getting on with my little beater because you literally have less than 100 yards to get up to at least 60 or you're cutting people off.

I've learned to embrace the fear.

You'd think they would have some smarter system to turn them on when necessary. Its funny to see them on during holidays when there is minimal traffic. The idea is good, the execution is terrible.

This is funny... just reminded me of an old commercial, maybe in the '90s. I don't even remember what it was for, but there was a car sitting in queue at an on-ramp meter with four old ladies in the car. The light turned green and one of the old ladies said, "Punch it Marge!" and she hit the gas and threw them all back against their seats.
