The job market seems a lot better in Denver than it was just a couple years ago. I worked on contract for a year and a half, but was recently promoted/hired perm. And at almost the same time, had an offer on a very good job (but chose to stay where I'd been contracting). In the past year, I've had recruiters contacting me, just finding me on Linkedin.

This really sucks! I have been applying for jobs like crazy, even ones I am overqualified for (or perfectly qualified for) for 4 months. I got a couple bites, but only one interview (they paid to fly me up). That company is dragging their feet though.

Seeing as how it appears to be industry standard to pay to fly applicants up for interviews, I believe that my arizona address is gravely hurting my job search. Why pay 1000 bucks to fly a candidate up when there's hundreds of local resumes cluttering your desk?

I am moving up, and if I do without a job it is going to suck. I always said to myself "i'll never be one of those chumps in credit card debt" but my luck is taking me in that direction
What industry are you in that you've been applying for? Good luck to you and your wife, it sounds like we are moving at the same time! I hope everything works out, for both of us

I live in the Parker, CO area which is just outside of Denver. There seems to be lots of waitressing and retail jobs available here and in the Denver metro area.

Be sure to check out the website of business or hobbies that you are interested in that are located in the Denver area. For example, I am a member of Corepower Yoga. I noticed last night on their website that they are looking for a social media person in Denver. They have some other job openings also. I've also seen some social media positions advertised on Craigs List. The University of Colorado system might be another place to check.

The Denver area is a wonderful place to live.

Best of luck.

It's bad LOL. But then again it all depends on which field. Medicine no problem and anything outside of that or government you are looking for problems. Digital Media in Colorado? I think Not but it's not impossible. However I would take your new set of skills like Digital Media and Communication and try the East Coast or even Northern California. Just be careful which city you choose. Colorado has always had lower wages but the cost of living has steadily risen.

Lower wages in CO? I hate to beat a dead horse to those who don't want to believe it, but Denver has the 10th highest median wage by metro area and Colorado is 13th in the nation. Low wages are not a problem. And you really think digital media is weak in this area? Its only home to the two major satellite broadcasters and has a heavy presence of many media companies. Quite a few of the startups in Boulder are focused in on digital media ideas as well.

Unless you are comparing the area to New York or San Francisco I think your assessment is way off.
