Denver??
My husband and I are thinking about relocating to Denver. We don't have jobs lined up yet. We are looking to spend 175-225K on a house. We have a little one, so we are looking at an area with low crime rates and excellent schools. We are interested in living on the outskirts of the city and are OK with the commute up to 45 mins. Is that something that's feasible?
Thank you so much!!!

You tell us.
Why do you want to move to Denver? Where are you moving from? Why do you think Denver is better (for you) than where you live now?
What line of work are you in? What are your job prospects? Do you think you will have a job before you move to Denver?

it will be difficult to find something nice in that price range. not impossible, i suppose. you would probably have to settle for something small. is a townhome or condo out of the question?

The average home price in the Denver area is 250k, and apparently this also includes attached housing like townhouses. So, your range is a little low. However, the suburbs are currently in a strong buyer's market due to the foreclosure mess -- so you could probably buy a foreclosure or other distressed property in that price range, if you're handy with your tools, that is.

I know this sounds snide, but everyone is looking for good schools and low crime. You really do need to be more specific. I don't think anyone on this forum is going to recommend a high crime area. If you said, "I'm looking at an apartment in neighborhood X", you would get many opinions. What do you consider good schools? In your price range, you are not going to be moving to Cherry Creek SD most likely, but there are many other good districts.
