I can't imagine a better way to go, Timmyy!! They are SO gorgeous. They look like they're part border collie or maybe Australian shepherd?

I would love to have a minature collie shepherd. When i was a kid we had one. He ran away yrs later. Yrs earlier he got hit by a car & barely survived & had a limp. I really miss that dog (ricky) like i miss my deceased cats. I DESPISE people who hate animals. I wish them the worse.

I'm new to the state, but seriously, are there no dog parks? There should be designated places for off-leash romping, especially in this state I would think...
This thread is a really good illustration of the dog ownership cognitive dissonance I always saw in Denver.

Yes, there are a lot of people with big dogs (we had them--still do--too.) I always got the feeling that big dogs sort of played into the outdoorsy portrayal that Colorado enjoys. It's almost as if a Lab is the de rigueur Colorado accessory.

However, Denver is not an open mountain meadow, and I was never thrilled with the dog park system. There was and is too little available, in inconvenient locations. Fuller and Berkeley were hot, dirty, depressing places. We drove by the Stapleton dog park ten days ago. It used to be grass, now it's dirt. I'm sure the dogs themselves don't mind the sandy dirt, but it was kinda sad to see it.
Stapleton was always overused because it used to be the nicest dog park, with working water fountains (you have to bring your own water now).

The city experimented with the idea of dog parks at both Cheesman and Washington parks.
I went to a few meetings, but the anti-dog lobby is strong.

And to be fair, irresponsible dog owners do not help their cause. It's not just in rough neighborhoods, either. I lived in a very nice neighborhood, but we had our share of problems.

I agree with Sonic Spork that people need to be considerate, which includes cleaning up after your dog as well as controlling it.

One is an Aussie and the other is part Border Collie. Both of them are rescues. We have had the Aussie for eight years now. When we got her we were her third home. It was like we were kindred spirits. I couldn't believe two homes gave up on her. She is the best dog that has ever owned me.

It sounds to me like they both hit the dog-owner jackpot!!
