I'm looking for info on what opportunities Denver generally has for renting a condo or leasing an apartment for 3 months out of the year. I absolutely love Stapleton, and right now it's my 2nd choice for where to retire to. So if I choose my 1st choice, I will still want to spend 3 months out of the year in Denver, and I would like to rent somewhere in Stapleton, to the extent that is possible. Is there much rental of that type available there?
If not, alternatives are limited to the Cherry Creek area (the closer to the bike trail the better), and I would also consider somewhere between City Park and downtown.
Not necessarily looking for names of places, just if there is general availability for that sort of thing.

Sounds to me like you want to visit Denver, not live in Denver. Most people don't usually rent apartments just for vacations. Probably not very cost effect. It could cost you close to hotel rates.
Have you considered buying an RV? Then you can park it Denver, or Minneapolis or where ever else you feel like for three month.

It's not so much that I don't want to live in Denver, but rather that it ranks 2nd on my list, and right now I'm planning to retire to my top choice. But I like Denver so much that I want to "sorta" live there, meaning take 3 months out of each retirement year to spend there.

I consider a vacation a week, maybe 2 weeks. If I'm going to spend 3 months there, that's somewhere in between vacation and living there. Wealthy people who are going to do something like that purchase a vacation home or second home or third home whatever they want to call it. I don't have it like that. And the chances of me winning the lottery are naturally small. But if and inexpensive condo didn't come with monthly maintenance fees that I would be paying even when I'm not there, I might consider that.
As far as hotel rates, an average rate is what, $120/night after taxes? Doing that for 90 days comes to $10,800. I'm almost certain I could find a 6 month apartment lease for $800/month, which is a total of $4,800, even if I was going to throw away 3 of those months (horrid thought), plus 3 months of utilities + furniture rental. That option is still much cheaper than hotel rates. But if I could find a 3 month lease instead of a 6 month lease, clearly that would be even cheaper, hence my topic question. So I disagree that renting an apartment for 3 months, whether it's getting a 3 month lease or getting a 6 month lease and wasting 3 of the months, costs close to hotel rates.

Briefly. The cost of purchasing an RV, plus maintenance, makes me shy away from that. Even a $1k per month apartment means only $3k plus furniture rental, etc. for a summer, and I can opt not to go one particular summer if something unexpected came up and not spend the $3k+. Purchase an RV and I'm paying for it all the time, every month on an installment plan until it's paid off, no matter what. To me an RV would be best suited for somebody who is going to be on the road a lot, going to a lot of different places, and doesn't mind dealing with emptying out toilet tanks.
The 3 month lease, if such a thing can be found, is my best option. I KNOW, for example, that if I were going to try this sort of thing in Florida, that rentals of some type can be found for that sort of time frame. But Florida has a lot more vacationers than Colorado. Not that I'm trying to compare the two, I'm just saying renting for 3 months is not an alien concept. It's just whether the Denver market can accommodate it, hence my starting the topic.

But it is not going to be cheaper then buying an RV. At least not in the long run. At least 2x as much as you are planing for, unless you want something really crappy.

That would depend on how many years I do it for. As I said, renting gives me the flexibility to decide when to go and pay and when not to go and pay. Purchasing the RV removes all flexibility- I pay no matter what.

I just looked up an apartment and found results including The Parc at Cherry Creek, 7555 East Warren Drive, for a 1BR 1BA listed at $705-$850, 6 month lease minimum. Nice location, says it's near the light rail station, ie. not crappy. Plus it has a pool and hot tub, etc. RVing is more like camping. I'm looking to have the typical comforts of home for those 3 months. I'm looking to be in an urban setting, walk to shops, etc. (not from parking lot into WalMart).
I was estimating $800/month for a 6 month lease plus 3 months of utilities and furniture rental. Results like The Parc at Cherry Creek show that I was pretty close, ie. it won't cost 2x as much as I'm planning for to have a decent place to live for the 3 months. It will cost pretty close to what I'm estimating. I'm talking Denver apartment rental, not San Diego. I was just interested to know if locals knew of 3 month options rather than me digging up all the info without asking first. I'll have to see how much corporate housing compares in price to the aparment option.
Edited to add: Did some more looking on the apartment search website and just found one listing that offers 3 month leases at market rate +$50, right off the High Line Canal Trail and near the Cherry Creek Trails. So it looks like there are such options in Denver apartment rentals, it just takes some looking.
I don't know about market rate there, but market rate for my 1/1 here is over $300 more a month than I am paying for a year's lease. That puts me almost to $1200 a month for market rate for a 1/1 825 sqft plus utilities. Ouch!
