My husband is considering a job that would be in Englewood. We are in our 40s and empty nesters. We'd like someplace with mature neighborhoods, outdoor spaces (hiking, biking, walking/running, general greenspace), quality housing. I hate sitting in traffic, so would prefer a "sleepier" area, but we do want access to restaurants, theaters, etc., we just don't need to be right next door. We could look at houses up to about $450k but would prefer to spend more like $300k if we can find a house we like for that. Schools not an issue except maybe for resale, but hope to find a house where we are happy to stay for a long time. I ride horses and want easy access to boarding facilities, hubby wants easy commute to work (less than 30 minutes, much less is preferable). We'd love a view of some kind, whether distant or pastoral. Just not the side of the next house. I dislike neighborhoods with cookie cutter houses. I would also consider an extensive renovation or building a new home to get what we want. We are moving from the Portland, OR area.

Can anyone suggest neighborhoods we might look at? Any tips for housing in the Denver area? Thanks!

We need an address.
Englewood is a small city just south of Denver.
Englewood is a HUGE postal delivery area south of Denver.
"Englewood" is relatively meaningless.

The [small] city of Englewood itself (zip code 80110) would be a good place to start. You could probably find what you are looking for in your price range there.

Congrats on your potential move. Just keep in mind that here there are no green spaces. We call them open spaces because they are seldom green. Just something to be aware of. I've known people who move out from Portland for the sun and then after a year or two go running back into the rainy mist and are glad to do it.

I think you'll find loads of neighborhood that fit your criteria.

I spent my first 22 years in Kansas and I've been to Colorado a half dozen times in the (distant) past. Love the mountains and the drier air, and actually appreciate the flat plains, lol It is beautiful in the PNW, but the rain, omg. Everyone is depressed by February, lol
