Smile Moving to Colorado

Big decision has been made and will be relocating to Highand Ranch in late November.
Since we have never relocated before out of state I am a bit unsure as to how soon we have to get new drivers Licenses, change plates and Insurance?
In other words is there a time limit?
Also do utilities such as electricity and gas go under one utility company?
In MA we use 2.
All help or suggestions appreciated.

Colorado Department of Revenue

Inform you insurance carrier about your move. They will advise you what to do. Once you are settled consider shopping around. I wouldn't shop around until you are settled.

Most people have Xcel Energy for gas and electric. Your realtor/landlord will be able to help you with that.

Stay away from Highland Ranch. Home values are about to plummet there.

I am actually renting a townhouse until I get a feel for the area and what we want. Housing is plumeting everywhere. We were fortunate to get a buyer after house being on market almost a year and half.
Thanks for the info.

anncat, good call on the rental, that will give you time to look around and see what is what. I believe you have a little bit of time on the plates and licenses about a month. Most neighborhoods have a local dept. of motor vehicles and/or go to the county courthouse. The utilities are usually seperate companies , your rental company should be able to tell you about that ? I have moved several times in my life and the hardest part is the packing and unpacking. Welcome to Colorado !

I love it when people throw stuff like that out with no support of any kind. Its about as useful as some spammer posting "Buy XYZ Inc. tomorrow before the price goes through the roof."

Once again thanks for the input.
Pacing is hard since it has been 17 years in the same house. Doesn't help that I pulled my back out Friday! Have to put off packing for a couple of days.
