Default first major relocation

This is more of a general relocation question except for the fact that we're planning on moving to the Denver area.

I'm just wondering how other people have relocated. My husband and I are both young with no children and want to move before we get rooted and (and/or lazy!) I require mountains or the ocean and since CO is cheaper than northern CA we chose CO!

My problem is deciding on how to move. We're not really in a position to be traveling for multiple job interviews and can't move in to a temporary apartment since we have two big dogs. We also have a home to sell and so on. Does anyone have a successful relocation story that might help us make a few key decisions? This is our first move together and we're trying to figure out how to make it work!

Get the house ready for sale. Put yourself on the airlines hot-fare email lists. Have the new prospective company fly you out, or at least reimburse you for travel expenses.

Either plan a long weekend homebuying trip or rent a house for a while once you get here.

IL to CO is on a distinguished road
Hi Stuphiel! You responded to my post about moving to Denver form Aurora, IL. Well I just wanted to tell you we did make it out here. We found a temperary place to rent in Lakewood through craigslist.com so you might want to start there for rentals. Our landlady was ok with our dog too. You just have to check. I really didnt want to rent either but it gives you more time to check out the area and get aquainted. We didn't have jobs here ahead of time but we found jobs once here. Were still looking for a house. We like the Lakewood area but haven't seen much of anywhere else as far as real estate. Well I hope you sell your house. Let me know what happens.
