Hi everyone-

My family and I will be moving out to the Aurora area at the end of this December! We are so excited to experience Colorado! I have been reading tons on this forum to gather information on the area. As it stands, my husband will be doing an 8 month internship at the new Fitzsimmons medical center. Since we have only one car we are hoping to rely on the bus system to get him to his internship, which means we are looking at living in Aurora.

Basically, I have a couple questions regarding the safety of Aurora. From this forum I have gathered that you should stay south of Mississippi/Iliff/or even Hampden depending on who you are talking to to be in a safe area.
However, I love to be able to go out for a jog from my doorstep...I will travel to a park if I must though..and I do plan on taking advantage of Cherry Creek State Park as well. I also like to push my babies with me as I go. Am I dreaming that I will be able to do this in Aurora around the neighborhood between Mississippi and Hampden (kind of centered around Peoria St.) and be safe?? How is the safety of the Westerley Creek Trail, Cherry Creek Spillway Trail, the Toll Gate Creek Trail and the Cherry Creek Greenway Trail??

Any comments would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It may not be necessary to live in Aurora to get to Fitz (actually Anschutz [sp?]) on the bus. I would suggest googling RTD to look at the bus routes. I don't know much about Aurora, but its dangerousness has been over-exaggerated at times.

Default Safety/commute

Hi - I live in Aurora along the E470 corridor and all of those running trails are very safe. Rocky Mountain Sports is a sport newspaper that also lists the majority of races and other sports. The area surrounding the medical center is evolving with some new development existing and more scheduled. Good luck.
