Default First ride in Colorado today....

Well, we got into Denver last night so today was my first full day in Denver. Of course unpacking sucks so I went for a ride.

Rode out to Winter park and back. Took 70 to 40. The roads were in great shape. Not to much sand on them. Although I did spin up the rear tire once passing. That was exciting.

I know there are much better roads out there to ride on but this was a good first one for me. And I moved here from Dallas. The weather was amazing. Aside from it clouding up on the way home. Geez it got cold fast!

I can't believe how fast people drive on 70 coming out of the mountains. It was great! I was doing 80-90 going with the flow in the left lane. And I love how people will actually move over if you are going faster than them.

I think I am going to like it here

Hey, nice pic. I'll be moving there in January (or sooner if I can't hack it at work anymore) and I have a Yamaha R1. I can't wait to get out there and whip that thing like a mule on the mountain roads! Now I just need to find a job before I move out there. I am staying in Keystone for a week at the end of November and will hopefully get some interviews lined up before then, but I will most definitely be doing some snowboarding. Hope you enjoy it out there. I know I always do on my visits.

I doubt any speedway will be built near Denver until at least 2010. Glad you like our beautiful state.

Ah, cool. Well, the speedway organization recently announced plans to build a speedway near DIA. I forget where exactly, but there are several large plots of land out there that are undeveloped. I'm guessing probably close to 76@470.

Another good ride when you have about half a day to kill is up 285 to Pine Junction, go south at Pine Junction through Deckers into Woodland Park, Come down into Colorado Springs, go through Garden of the Gods, get on 105 in Monument and go north into Sedalia.

The road from Pine Junction to Woodland park has virtually no traffic and is usually in good condition.

Welcome to Colorado! Nice photo there. The 85-90 MPH speeds are not very common however and will get you pulled over. 80ish should be the max for the 75 limit.

Good luck.

Beautiful picture. I'm so jealous! I'm going to be in Denver about a week from now (well, a little longer because I'm driving there and my family is convinced it's going to take me 2 weeks to get from FL to CO). In any event, I can't wait to take my own first picture of Colorado. Please post more pictures!
