Same stuff as any sunbelt city but just less of it. Lot more government related work for a city this size. Poor housing market due to lack of investment activity. Most sunbelt cities prefer to build more than is needed. Denver likes to strangle markets to make them look better than they are, both in housing and other industries.

No, I just wasn't clear. I meant comparing denver to large sunbelt cities like LA, SD, Pheonix, Dallas, Houston, and atlanta.

Denver is a step below the above places as far as growth and business is concerned. Most business has migrated from the north to the south in the past few decades.

A denver native would probably not have seen this or understand how many northerner a have moved south, because there is nothing above colorado.

A state with a population of 200,000 may grow to 300,000 in 5 years, and would end up #1 on that statistic. While a state like texas might grow by 3,000,000 people and still end up at the bottom of that list.

SECONDLY, let's not forget that government sector is considered part of GPD. Colorado ranks near the top of the list for federal government sector work compared to overall population.

Then it is strange that Texas and California both ranked higher than Colorado on this list. By your reasoning they should both be at the bottom based solely on population. I think you need to take an economics class at the local community college.
