I don't remember when I stopped eating at McDonalds. It's been so long ago. But I do remember that for a long time after I stopped, I would get the cravings for it about once or twice a year, and I'd have to pull into the drive through and pick something up. Then I'd be like, this doesn't taste as good as I remember it being. Pretty soon I got to the point, that I'd take a couple of bites, stop and think. Yuck, how did I ever eat this crap.

Once you stop eating that junk for a while, you will get to a point that you will never want to eat it again.
I realized many years ago that I couldn't eat beef (I can't digest it) so gave that up in the early '90s, then soon gave up fast food. After a few years off fast food, I ate at KFC w/friends once and spent the rest of the day in the bathroom! I guess I lost my tolerance for greasy fried food. I've since become a vegetarian, mostly due to a personal "yuk factor" about eating animals. I will eat the occassional veggier burrito bowl at Chipotle or a cheese pizza from Anthony's, but I couldn't tell you the last time I was in an Arbys/McDonalds/Burger King/Wendys/Taco Bell, etc. Well over a decade.

Of course they will, few people really care in the end. People know well what foods make them fat and aren't good for them and still eat them because they taste good. People are fatter than ever in the US and yet living longer. Sure people could live a little longer if they ate only certain kinds of foods, but as long as life expectancy keeps going up, how are you going to get people to stop eating what they enjoy eating?

Hope you made it to El Pollo Loco...its gone now. Probably not a brand we'll see in Denver again considering how weak the business was in its one location when it was open.

Boarded up with a for lease sign in front of it. My lady was shocked, we came from Vegas where they are everywhere and usually crowded. Bad choice of location though, its Mexican style chicken, but their best audience is non-Mexicans. We can hope it comes back but the lack of success suggests no one is going to give it a shot.

What a disappointment -- I loved that place! But I agree that the South Federal location wasn't the best. A low income area absolutely packed with excellent low cost restaurants. Tough to survive in that environment.

WTF? When I lived in Phoenix, LA, and Reno I used to eat EPL all the time. I went to the one on Federal Blvd twice and they were always out of something, and I didn't see the tons of fresh chickens cooking on the fire like you always see at the real EPL locations. I didn't enjoy driving all the way out there to the ghetto. They should have put it in Highlands Ranch or something with all the California transplants, probably would have done much better. I better make sure to eat there next time I head back to PHX/LV/LA.

There was a 'Robertaco' in COS at the corner of Woodmen and Academy. The building was wiped out for the overpass a couple of years ago. But the owner has resurfaced in Monument with the same menu and taste as those taco shops in San Diego we used to frequent. It's called Monument Mexican Grille, and it's in the Kohl's parking lot.

Was it Robertaco or Albertaco's? IIRC it was the latter.
