I would second Benny's.
A shout out for Chad's on 6th and Union in Lakewood.
Le Central is a great affordable French place - make a reservation!!
Go to Casa Bonita and don't even bother trying to eat but that is another classic Colorado experience that everyone should have. Your kids will love it. No kids? I highly recommend that you introduce yourself to Mary Jane before you go in it'll make it a lot better.
You must try The Fort at least once.
Special date night try Aix. My favorite restaurant in all of Colorado!!
If you can afford The Fort, surely you've gotta try The Briarwood.

Some have mentioned not liking Bluebonnet and I'd agree. I wonder if that place on Broadway and north of Hampton (Jefferson) is still there; I think it's called El Tappauan. I used to like Tajadas, but not so much the last time I went.

That Beau Jo's pizza has just too much crust. Honey ain't gonna fix it for me. There was a place on University around Arapahoe called Rasarios or something like that. They had a pretty good pizza. This was years ago, however.

heh
We used to skip class at East High and go to Pete's for coffee and an omelet.
East High students are probably still doing that.
Pete owns the Satire and also the University Cafe on Evans.
We also liked his Greek food, too. Looks like he spiffed his place up since we left.
Pete's Restaurants.

We just ate at Pete's Greek restaurant on Evans and Univ. a few weeks ago. It's not what you'd call "upscale", but it's nice and the food is good and reasonable.

I didn't realize he owned those. I've been to the University Cafe and liked it too.
You're probably right about the students.
