A friend of mine has Skybeam. His speed slows down a LOT during prime time hours.

I haven't had much luck with Centurylink when it comes to sustained speed. With Comcast broadband I get speeds near 60dl/10up for their standard package sustained.

For fun let's do some speedtests.

I just heard that Century Link is bringing 1gig service to Denver neighborhood by neighborhood. I have seen some guys running lines in my alley over the past week. Need to call them and see if we are live. Might switch if we are.

Well from the results, if you want to Seed Torrents then Century Link is the way to go. If you want to have your entire family watching their own streaming movie... then Comcast is the way to go. Or head to bluescreen73's job .

I will add my own experience with them both. When I had CenturyLink in Lakewood (1.5y) I recall there being many outages. Many trucks outside my place with folks in the hubroom. With Comcat (3y) I have had maybe 2-3 outages.

We've got open positions, but with Level 3 taking over the place you have to ask yourself if that's a good fit for you.

We've had maybe 1 outage in the 2 years we've had the CenturyLink and the quality of service has been consistent.

You only get a good deal on Comcast's internet if you bundle it with their lousy TV product. When we switched to DirecTV the internet jumped to almost $100 a month.
