Here are the specs:
2 bedrooms or larger
1 bathroom or more
Parking space
Laundry on facility
Dishwasher (MUST)
Well maintained (eg: updated electric to accomodate the lifestyle of millenial people who have electronics and doo-dads)
Safe neighborhood
Family friendly, good for young children
Recreation and eats within a short distance
In NYC, your looking $1500 and upward. And the apartments, from what I've been told by everyone who has lived elsewhere are substandard by comparison. This is too high for rent in my opinion.
As anyone who has been following my posts, we're planning on relocating in about 12 months. Rent first, buy later.
We may buy in the burbs, but initially I want to be in the city so I can get to know my new home town.

Two bedrooms in NYC for $1500??? I can't imagine finding two bedrooms for under $3000...although my reference point is Manhattan so that might skew the number higher.
Good luck finding something that fits your requirements and your budget - it's so stressful trying to find a place to call home, isn't it? Cyberhugs!

If you want to rent in the city center you're going to pay a lot for it. In areas about 10 minutes outside of downtown you could get away in the $900-1100 range, with all the amenities standard, but the closer to town the more you will pay.

i live in denver's indian creek neighborhood and pay $1000/month for a 2br, 1200 sq ft apartment with a washer and dryer included. indian creek is kind of a bland, quiet neighborhood, but it's only 6 miles from downtown and still within the official city and county of denver. hope this helps.
my answer was $900-$1100.. i think that's a pretty good range for what you're looking for.

Sorry to piggy-back on this topic...how much could you expect to pay for a 1 bedroom or studio in/around Denver? Doesn't need to be fancy shmancy but I'd like it in a safe area you can easily walk around and even maybe walk/bike to work.

$500 and up. The closer to downtown the more it will be.

I agree totally. How the hell is someone who makes, lets say an average of $40K a year afford rent upwards of $1500 a month? That would be half your monthly income.
The whole rent situation is effing rediculous.
