I am moving from Dallas to Denver. My office is located in downtown. I am looking to find a one bedroom apartment close to downtown denver. The apartments in downtown are pricey and i was wondering if there are safe neighborhoods close to downtown.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!!

I am female, 33, my work is close to union station. My budget is under $1300. I live by myself and expect to work long hours, hence looking for a safe preferably gated community if its available.

I dont want to live too far from work, so i am looking to be with in the 2-3 miles. I have a car, so public transit is not a requirement.

Almost anywhere within a 2-mile radius will be safe.
Come back and give a specific address/apartment complex name and we will will be vocal.

The very few gated communities that exist in the city high dollar houses, not rental apartments. Typically I think of that as a good thing. Gated communities reek of suburbia.

Since you are working near Union Station, basically anything near any of the Light Rail lines will give you an easy commute.

$1300/month will get you into a 1-bedroom at any of the big apartment complexes in the riverfront park area: Commons Park West, The Manhattan, Ballpark Lofts, The Metro, Citygate, etc. Bear in mind that the demographic there is mostly mid-20's people who like to party and hook up at the pool (its 'College 2.0'), but they can still be fun places for a 30-something if you are young at heart.

Raising your budget just slightly might get you into something in LoHi, which is a little more mature.

Yup, Riverfront area. Just stroll across the bridge(s) and you're at Union Station.

The Manhattan building is very nice - right across the bridge from Union Station on Bassett St. A good friend of mine lives in Skye Lofts nearby and likes it. There's a lot of great apartment buildings surrounding Union Station - and several in the process of being built as we speak.

There is no gated communities around there that I know of. The river area is nice, sugarcube building and whatnot. If you can get to capitol hill area, anywhere south of 12th ave is where I'd live. Five Points has a bad reputation but is becoming gentrified and the bums usually don't bother me. Denver is generally pretty safe.
