Yes. I know of one man whose doctor said, in no uncertain terms, that he should leave ASAP. The person who told me about this said the guy didn’t even go home. He got in the car, drove to sea level, and decided to stay there. Someone else packed up and moved his belongings so he would not have to risk his health by returning. He had lived in CO for much longer than a month.

Does the altitude make some move away? Sure. For one thing, the altitude makes Denver's climate subject to this phenomenon called upslope conditions, where the wind flow goes from east to west (upslope), which usually means crappy weather (often snow.) And on the other hand, the high mountains to the west of Denver create strong downslope westerly winds (Chinook winds), which when they're strong, can cause damage and generally warm things up quite a bit.

I'm not sure it was the altitude or the low humidity levels, but I was miserable in the Denver area for the 16 years I lived there. Dry skin issues, hemorhoids from hell, always congested, always coughing (don't smoke), always had headaches. Never had any of these issues before or since leaving the Denver area to return to sea level. Beautiful mountains, but the climate is not for me.
