What is the best method for finding jobs in Denver?
What is the best method for finding jobs in Denver? Is the Denver Post the best resource?
Has anyone had any luck w/ Denverjobs.com? Are there any other websites (beyond Monster, etc.) that I should be aware of?
Any info. is appreciated. Thanks!

Monster & Career Builder can be a joke, I never get responses from any resume I send from there.
I've been trying to find a job in Denver for over 3 months now, it's ridiculous how hard it is!!! You're overlooked if you don't have a 4-year degree & the other jobs that don't require any degree can be so low-paying that it's embarrasing--Denver is very expensive to live in without having to worry about whether or not you can survive on the kinds of salaries I've seen posted for jobs in Denver.
Sorry, had to vent!!
Oh---and I just found out about :

Hello Avery-Jay,
You really move fast. Did you get your car registered?? I saw your pictures--very nice. A good source of jobs in this area would be the federal government, if you are interested. There is one of the largest locations for federal agencies, in the country--The Denver Federal Center in Lakewood. To find jobs go to USAJOBS - The Federal Government's Official Jobs Site

Thank you, Livecontent! As always, excellent advice. I actually just heard from someone else about government jobs here & what great benefits these positions offer, so it's something I'm going to look into.
I didn't get my car registered yet because you have to either (1) prove you've lived in CO for 3 months or (2) have proof of employment in CO. Since I don't qualify for either, I have to put that on hold for now. I was really disappointed to find that out because I wanted to get my Colorado plates and "fit in". I want to be a Coloradoan!
Thanks about the pictures. I was completely unprepared for how beautiful Denver is, how generous the people are, and how at home I feel here. I never felt like I belonged in FL, I always felt out of place. Here in Denver, I feel like I was born to live in this beautiful city.
Livecontent, I know you live in Arvada. Have you ever been to the Grease Monkey on Sheridan? I had my oil changed there today. Normally getting my oil changed is a headache, but I was bowled over by the friendliness of the mechanics there. I now you're an RTD user, and may not have a car, but I just wanted to give you some good advice since you're always doing that for me!

Nothing wrong with venting, I do it frequently. If you bottle it in for too long you just wind up with high blood pressure or an ulcer.
I'm sorry it's taking you so long to find a job here in Denver. Unfortunately, one of the downsides of living in a metro area is the increased cost of living. I just figured out today that Denver's sales tax is 8.5% . But, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else now that I'm finally here. I hope that you find something soon, just keep plugging away at it.
Also, thanks for the links. I agree about Monster & CareerBuilder. I took my resume off of CareerBuilder because I was getting all kind of junk mail from them - and bogus interest from "sales" positions!

I am glad, you are happy. I was just referrring to car registration to see if you saw the answer I gave you in your question about where to go. I did not know you had to prove your are a resident.
Thank you for the information about the grease monkey. But, I think that the service that you get may not be the same as what I get---the difference is that you are treated differently, when your are a young single female by the mechanic vs. the service I get as a old, fat grump with a New Yawk accent.
Yes, a car owns me. and I am a slave to it, sometimes, but I try to escape from it and leave it alone in the garage.

Be warned that the hiring process for federal jobs is not speedy - even those jobs that are already posted often take months to go through the application review/interview/etc process.
