My husband and I are relocating to the Denver area in December/January time frame. We are looking a good real estate agent to help us find a townhome or condo in our price range. We are currently looking to rent for a few years until we can sell our home here in NC. We have a few neighborhoods in mind but the final choice depends on where we find employment and something that meets our needs. Any suggestions for good real estate agents in the Denver area....preferably the suburbs. Thanks!

Desired neighborhoods?
What is important to you in a neighborhood?
Where is work?
Kids?

We are looking for anything between $900-$1300. Preferably a townhome with attached garage. We have been looking at Westminster, Broomfield and Thornton. But we are open to anything right now as long as its a good neighborhood and area. We want mountain views in our neighborhood and parks (also dog parks) and not to be to far from Denver. We also want good amenities to city life good pubs, shopping, close grovery stores etc. I am not sure where work will be yet for me. I am trying to get transferred to an Allstate agency out there and my husband is probably attending the Denver Police Academy unless he accepts a position elsewhere. We have no kids of our own yet, just a step daughter that is with us a few months a year.

Smile Seeking a property managment team to help with our move

We are relocating to the Denver Area the 1st of January. We would like to have a lease signed in mid-December if not before. This is a cross country move for us and we have to have somewhere to go once we leave NC. All the lease etc. will be handled long distance but we are prepared to do that. We also have pets. But we are seeking a property management firm that truly wants to help us find a place to live. We are having such a hard time finding anyone in this area that wants to be of assistance to us for this. We want to live in the suburbs...no more than 30 minutes from Denver. We are open to a lot of different areas as long as they are family friendly, low crime rates etc. We prefer a townhouse with attached garage but we will also take a home with attached garage. 3BDR at least 1 1/2 BTH...$1350 budget. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi, I just moved from NC to Denver in May, so I know how tough this can be. I was lucky enough to be able to stay with friends for 2 months while I home-searched.

There's a bit of information that may help us help you. First of all, the Denver metro area is HUGE, in comparison to anything in NC. When I was staying with friends it was over 30 miles from their door to work (they live on the far east side of Aurora, an eastern suburb, I work in Lakewood, a western suburb), and it took about an hour commute time. So, when you say "30 minutes to Denver" the first question that comes to mind is 30 minutes to where in Denver? And 30 minutes at what time of day? Because that can make a huge difference. Is someone working in Denver and you're thinking commute times? If so, can you say where the job is?

Generally speaking, how familiar are you with the Denver area? If you know the general area where you want to live, you could use padmapper; do a map search of the area you're interested in, and click on what fits your needs. This will provide you with the the rental agency (if there is one), and you could then contact the agency directly.

If you're not familiar with Denver, we could provide some ideas if you give more specifics on what you want in a home. Are schools important? Proximity to mountains? Near light rail? What do you like to do with your free time? This info could help with narrowing down the search. Also, check out the sticky thread, there's so much GREAT info there, and it really outlines the different metro area communities nicely.

Finally, and this is really, really important...the rental market is TIGHT. I would see a house posted on Craigslist, call the same day, and it would be gone already. You will need to be ready to sign a lease quickly. I really lucked into and absolutely perfect spot for me, but I had the luxury being able to look while I had a place to live, but even with that luxury, it was still a maddening process due to how quickly the market moved.

Good luck with your move, and if you want to ask anything specific as far as NC-to-CO goes, please feel free to DM me!
