I agree if you're only staying for 2 years, DO NOT BUY. It's a waste of your money. Continue renting and maybe look into a townhouse instead. You won't get squat for $150k

As others have mentioned, $150k is definitely a tough price range right now. But it is NOT impossible.

An important factor would be the amount of money you would be putting towards a down payment, and what type of loan you are thinking about (FHA, conventional, etc).

If you have a minimum amount of money to put toward a down payment, then an FHA loan would be your best bet (you only have to put 3.5% of the purchase price down). But it's kind of a catch 22, because any house you can find for $150,000 will likely need a lot of work, and will therefore have trouble passing the FHA lending guidelines.

You would be able to find a smaller home with 1-2 beds and 1 bath for that price range, but anything much bigger is likely out of the question. I would suggest looking around the Harvey Park, Barnum, and E. Colfax neighborhoods if that is your maximum amount.
