Hi Everyone,

I just accepted a job in the Cherry Creek area (off South Colorado blvd) and would love neighborhood advice! I am 29, female, and moving solo from the DC area. I am past the college scene but not ready for the "burbs" quite yet. Looking for a neighborhood with bars, restaurants, and coffee shops within walking distance, and somewhat convenient to work. I would prefer to stay under $1400 but somewhat flexible. Wash Park, Lohi and Uptown are on my shortlist so far. Which in your opinion has the best balance of convenience (to work) and a somewhat lively setting for someone who is about to be in their 30's? Feel free to suggest others.

Thanks!!

Wash Park would make for the most convenient commute and will have a lot of what you are looking for (bars, restaurants, and coffee shops), but I think any of the other neighborhoods on your shortlist (LoHi and Uptown) will provide a livelier setting for someone in their late 20s, early 30s. I think you are definitely on the right track. I think LoHi and the Central Platte Valley area would be nice in terms of new and exciting restaurants and bars and walkability. Activity around uptown is mostly concentrated along E. 17th Ave and has less activity and turnover in terms of bars and restaurants. However, it is very close to the Fillmore and Ogden on Colfax, which hosts a ton of concerts and other events. Wash Park has a lot more single family homes and seems a lot more residential than the other areas, but the park is always bustling with young adults. Baker could also be interesting for you - though some may think it is a bit grittier than the other 'hoods mentioned.

Default Consider greater "Highlands"

We live in Berkeley and it is only 7.2 miles to Cherry Creek North.
My wife found that it takes about 20 minutes.
So, you could/should consider: Highland, West Highland, Jefferson, Sunnyside, Berkeley.

I used to live in Mayfair - it is a wonderful neighborhood, but there are not a lot of bars, coffee shops and restaurants that you can actually walk to.

Stay east of Broadway and South of Colfax and you will be fine. LoHi is a brutal commute through downtown on Speer Blvd. both ways. I would not advise it.

Thanks for all the feedback so far! The wash park area seems ideal (minus the lack of one bedroom condos/apartments). Am I wasting my time trying to find a one bedroom in wash park? I'd rather live alone so will probably consider another neighborhood over finding a roommate.

Congress Park! There are businesses along 12th Ave -- coffee, donuts, TAG Burger Bar, etc.

Wash Aprk would be best, but your budget is tough.

Baker would be really nice for you.

It is a great commute if you take the cherry creek bike path . Baker and West Wash Park (more lively than the east side and more apartments) would be at the top of my list.
