El Shaggy is on a distinguished road
Default Denver neighborhoods

Hi, my girlfriend and I are moving to Denver in December/January. We're moving from Portland Or, I realy love it up here but she wants to be closer to her family in Kansas. So Denver seems like a good choice because I dont want to live in the midwest. We want to live in a liberal part of the city, Downtown/Urban, good public transit, low crime, I dont want to have to look over my shoulder when I walk around. Im looking to rent, about 650 amonth, I currently live in the Hawthorne neighborhood in Portland, its very eccentric, alot of wierd shops and people. Ide like to find a place like that in Denver.

Also what parts of Denver should I avoid? Portland has a few bad parts. But most places you could walk around at night with no worries, is it the same in Denver?

thanks for any help.

$650 for a one bedroom is easily had in Denver. Try Highlands, or West Wash Park.

There are some parts of Denver and Aurora that I would not feel comfortable walking around at night. Best to check the crime statistics for the different cities around here that you are interested in. I don't know if you can find crime stats for particular areas within a city.

Call the source of those statistics. In this case, the Denver Police department.
