This gives Golden a concentration of registered sex offenders inside of its boundaries.

The C-D page says there are 81 registered sex offenders in Golden. Of those 81 nearly 1/3 of them (28) live on Jefferson County Pkwy -- the address for the jail. About 5 or 6 more do not live in Golden, but in a part of unincorporated Jefferson County that uses a Golden address.

I recently came across a quote from Aaron Levenstein (professor and author) that really puts things like this in perspective.

"Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital"

Hope this helps.
This is a great post. Thanks David.

Coloradoalimony thanks for the insight on Golden selling out long ago. Are there any real small towns left in the Denver/Boulder area?
Statistics isn't your better quality. Why bring this up? Do you have something against Golden?

Timmyy quite the opposite I am in love with the idea of Golden. We are moving there this summer. From FL. When you're planning a move cross country it's hard to grasp a realistic expectation of the area. We visited a week before the September floods and loved it. A family member brought up the large amount of sex offenders and we couldn't understand why. She wants us to move to Castle Rock.

Personally I would move to Golden 100 times before living in Castle Rock. I have a lot of friends raising kids there. Such a better town than the suburban sprawl that is Castle Rock.

I've got news for you, you are probably living near a lot more dangerous people then sex offenders. But you will never know, because they are not required to register.

this is so true.

I have a buddy that's a registered sex offender. He had sex with a 17 year old when he was 21 at a house party. I personally think 21 is too old to be bagging HS girls, but to call that rape is absolutely insane

When I was 17, I had a 21 yr old boyfriend and I lived with him. It was perfectly legal (may still be in my state I dunno) I can certainly tell you I was NOT a victim. Regardless of the fact that he was an idiot. It's a shame people can be slapped with that evil label for something like this and be kept from moving on with their lives
