I am a 30 y/o female, travel nurse and I am coming to Denver for an assignment at Rose Medical Center. I will be there from January 13 to April 12. Currently trying to find short term housing. I would like to stay within the budget of $1800 for furnished or 1300 for unfurnished. I am looking for a 1-2 bedroom and I travel with my dog.

I have done a lot of research but there is so much info out there it can get a little overwhelming. I really would like to have a relatively quick trip to work and and easy shot to the mountains for skiing, as I will be doing a lot of that while I'm there. I will be having people visit from home so I would like to be in a safe area where it has a good amount of shopping/things to do. I am not a clubber, but local bars and restaurants are always fun. It would also be nice to be able to walk to things on a nice day.

I will be coming out a week early to check out some of the areas/apartments. There are so many neighborhoods in Denver, I just don't know where to begin. Any advice and tips are very much appreciated. Just don't want to get out there and be starting from scratch.

Thanks for the help!

Rose is in an area where traffic is bad and there is no highway access. Additionally, since it is in East Denver, it is 15 miles to the foothills (the entrance to the mountains).

I would suggest somewhere to the west of Colorado Blvd. like Capitol Hill, Uptown, or City Park West to keep your daily commute short. As soon as you get to the west side of downtown, the commute will take on much different proportions. If you want to be further west, stay near the 6th Ave Freeway to minimize downtown traffic.

I think you'll find short term rental with a pet is very tough. Colorado Pointe on Colorado Blvd does both and would be within walking distance to work. It is also in walking distance to Congress Park and the little shops in Congress Park on 12th. I think it's a little higher than your budget. But if the rental market's anything like what we faced a couple of years ago you may need to make some adjustments.

I found a short-term rental on airbnb, so you might try that or similar site. Good luck!
