I guess it's rude of me to enjoy a snowstorm when others are inconvienced. I'll keep my positive thoughts to myself.

McGowdog made a good point several posts back regarding the livestock problem. Not hundreds, but thousands of perished in this stuff. The Ag people in the southeast portion of the state took a pounding because of the winter. They're taking a pounding enough just making ends meet in this economy; losing that amount of cattle put a lot of ranchers under, I'm sure.

Please don't your positive comments are so representative of why I have stayed in Denver. Good natured and genuine people without the Debbie Downer perspective on life! Yes, the snow was troublesome and those in the Pitts have no idea of all I went through, or yourself, but they presume that since there is a little joy found that we had no issues. I appreciate your perspecitive and attitude and will continue to shed a different perpective on our great city and it's natural occurances.
Think Snow!!!

I concur, this was truely sad for those ranchers and I hope it does not happen again to them. Again, we need to ask ourselves, what is being done with planning should this happen again and what have I done as an individual to help others? I hear a ton of complaining but nothing beyond consideration and having forsight. Thank you for you sharing DOUBLE H!

Think Snow!!!

I definitely had fun with the blizzard initially. It's the only blizzard I've ever been in! We cranked up Christmas music on our outdoor speakers after it ended, brought out beer and had a shoveling party with neighbors. But I think it's a legitimate to complain when we never had our street plowed. If sidewalks and streets were clear, then it would have been easier to get out and enjoy it all. I realize it makes no sense for the city to buy 100 more plows when they're only needed once every 20 years or whatever, but they need to have some sort of plan for heavy snow in the middle of winter.
I grew up in Kansas City, where they probably don't get as much snow overall as Denver, but if there was even 4" on residential streets, they plowed it.

The point I was trying to make was that not everyone had the option of just enjoying the chance to slow down, and that it's important to remember that.

Great shots!
I enjoyed the first and second storm. It was the rest of Jan and Feb that annoyed me. Seemed like it was snowing every weekend. And just enough to be a pain in the neck. If we do have any snow storms like that this year I hope they're followed up with a nice long span of dry weather with average, or slightly above average temps.

Very true. If you had no choice but to work the entire day the blizzard started, I don't know how you got home. Our neighbor is a fireman and it took him 2 days to get home.

Well, as I said earlier, one of the doctors finally closed our office around one. (Those w/o 4WD got to go home at 10 AM!!!) And I did get home safely. We were closed the next day, but then had to work the day after. Interestingly, some of the staff claimed to be snowed in, yet all the patients got there. I guess if you're sick, you find a way to get to the doc. I really feel sorry for the staff in the hospital. I think some slept over.
