If you don't want to get pregnant, then don't drink the water at Stapleton.

I think you are putting the cart before the horse. You need to find a job before you secure a place to live. My reasoning is three fold:
1. Denver Metro is a big place, and rush traffic is bad. A rush hour commute more than 10 miles is a nightmare by standards.
2. The rental market is very tight. Landlords, and I am one, with not consider you as a tenant until you have a job. This can sometimes be mitigated with a very large security deposit.
3. I ignore resumes from people that live on the other side of the metro area from me, because I know such people will leave as soon as they find another job closer to where they live. I am sure other employers do the same.

I am in Denver already. During the last week, I have rented an apartment and purchased some wheels. Now I need to find a job, move into my apartment, and get my driver's license. My thoughts about Denver are: its a large city, pretty diverse, friendly people, and lots of neighborhoods. I made the right move.

Default DMVs in Colorado

Colorado is very confusing via à vis DMVs.
The DMV for drivers' licenses is the STATE.
The DMV for automobile plates is your local COUNTY.
They are completely separate even when co-located in the same office space.
The STATE only takes cash/check.

I ended up in NE Denver/Aurora 80239. I woke up today singing May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii! lol Thanks for the info about the state taking only cash/check. I need to get my eyes examined. I've been studying the DL and Motorcycle Manual. Have a couple of job interviews lined up this week. Moving into my apartment on Wednesday. Things are hopping! Denver is really cool the neighborhoods and the people that I have met. The adventure is going well, now I just need to make some friends and get a life going. Have a great day!

The update is I moved into my place last wednesday, got my scooter on Thursday delivered, currently searching for work on craigslist, careerbuilder and monster. Been to about three interview, it seems like lots of opportunities are available here in Denver. Got my bike registered, library card and driver's licenses. Found a great recreation center to work out. Met some cool people out here.
