Howdy folks. Been on CD for a while now, and I got a lot of help from this forum when seeking info on Denver before me moved here.
Quick question. My parents are coming to town in 3 weeks, and they'd like to do some beginner level hiking. We've done Pikes Peak cog rail, Rocky Mountain Ntl park, and Breck with them.
Now, they've told me that they would like lace up their hiking boots and do some easy hiking (maybe 2-3 miles at most) to some scenic views. They are in decent shape to be in their mid 60s, but not looking for anything too grueling. No 14'ers or anything LOL.
Any suggestions on some easy hiking areas with nice views within 45 minutes of town? As always, any help/advice is
greatly appreciated!

If they didn't specify mountain vistas, take 'em to Castlewood Canyon. Go to the east entrance, walk down into the canyon along the banks of Cherry Creek past the dam ruins and down to the waterfall. It'll be about 3 miles R/T.

Mount Falcon is a great easy hike for visitors because you can also get great views. Drive to the top, west parking lot. If you go to the east one it is a very tough hike, only for locals.
It's my go-to hike for out of towners. They get a great experience without too much huffing and puffing.

It is fun to stop in Morrison for lunch and then continue to Red Rocks Amphitheater.

I've sent my parents to the 1-2 mile loop in Red Rocks Park, it's also one of the first hikes I did after I moved here from Florida. It's easy and pretty scenic for what it is.

I highly recommend this very close amenity to Denve that is in a post I recently placed on a another post--Eldorado Canyon State Park. This post has all the links you need. This really amazes those who are newcomers and many do not know even know it exists.

No worries. There's an app (and website) called AllTrails that you might find helpful. They recently re-did the app and are currently working some kinks out of it.

I am a big fan of Waterton Canyon for people who come in from lower elevations. It starts at the south end of Chatfield State Park and it is on a Denver Water access road next to the South Platte. You can hike all the way to Strontia Springs Reservoir. You can usually spot deer, elk and big horn sheep along the way.
