Bears, mountain lions, coyotes, rattlesnakes, and black widows. I've encountered all of them while living in Colorado. The mountain lion visited in the middle of the night when a neighbor let out her dogs. We heard it scream through our open windows. The black widow showed up in our garage. I almost ran over the rattlesnake on a bike path, and the bear was in Castlewood Canyon. Coyotes are regular visitors to our current neighborhood. Welcome to Colorado!

You could likely see them all if you stick around in CO long enough and travel around. I haven't seen a mountain lion or a rattle snake yet. (I've been here 12 -13 years ). I only saw one bear, but it wasn't in my town. (However a neighbor of ours witnessed a bear ripping through our garbage one morning when we had forgotten that it was a holiday weekend and trash pick-up would be delayed a day). Our bad...

Several neighbors where I live have reported mountain lion sightings and even found them sleeping on their porch/deck.

Our cat is an indoor cat. We have a transom window that we open and let her sit in so she feels like she is outside. We have no dogs.

Fox are common and so are coyotes (in some areas).

My advise would be to keep your cat indoors, make sure your dogs are leashed when you walk them or have them in a securely-fenced run.

Enjoy the wildlife!
