Are you a college sports fan (local to SD) ?
Just a thought...
I don't believe that you can get local So. Cal sports channels with any package that cable provides. You need to get one of the extended sports packages from DISH or DirecTV (e.g. Fox sports channels - FSBA, FSAZ, whatever) - I don't think you'll find SDSU available at your local cable provider.

I had Dish Network when I lived in Colorado and LOVED it. Never had a problem. Well last December during the huge snowstorm(s), we had to brush the snow off our dish once but that was it. Then I moved out of state and got Direct TV (for the NFL Sunday Ticket Go Broncos). It is ok - similar - but I think overall I preferred Dish Network. I think either satellite company is good so go with the one that gives you the best deal to sign up!

I have had both DirectTV and Bresnan cable. As far as picture quality, etc., I couldn't really tell any difference. I only had a couple of times that weather affected my satellite reception for more than a few seconds. Once was during an absolutely unbelievable hail and lightning storm--my reception was affected for about 10 minutes. Believe me, I wasn't too worried about watching TV at just that moment, anyway. Service on my Bresnan cable has been quite reliable with excellent picture and sound quality.
One of my pet peeves with "customer service" in general these days is when you call the 800 number and get somebody in India or somewhere who can barely speak English. My experience with DirecTV is that is what you get just about every time you call. With Bresnan, the couple of times that I have called them, I got a knowledgeable person on the phone--obviously an American who could speak English. I am increasingly of the opinion that if a company is so nonchalant about its customer service that it will hire people who can barely communicate with those very customers who need service, then they probably don't need my business. So, DirecTV, if you are reading this, that is one of the main reasons you lost me as a customer.

That's pretty surprising about Directv. One of there customer service centers is right there in Englewood. Other locations include: Boise, Tulsa, Missoula, Las Cruces, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City...Most of the call centers are in the US. If you got someone hard to understand I guess that was the luck of the draw.
Looks like most people were happy with it...

I'm a big San Jose Sharks hockey fan and Golden State Warriors fan.
Anyone from SF Bay Area know if Comcast in Colorado carry them? How about Dish?

Dish & DirecTV offer NHL CI & NBA League Pass which will give you access to Sharks & Warriors games. The cost for each package is somewhere around $170 per season.

Both have issues.
As someone who has been a DirecTV subscriber since 1998 and a Comcast Cable subscriber for the past two years I will offer the following.
If your DirecTV goes out in anything other than a sticky snow or hail in the summer -- your installation is wrong.
If you don't mind the worlds worst HD DVR's that frequently lock up and require you to turn them off -- and impossibly small capacity; cable is for you.

The cost of cable is high, compared to stations you get. DirecTV is low, for the stations you get. I think Dish Network, is about the same, as DirecTV. I've tried both and I like DirecTv better myself.
