Is it just me or is the traffic in Denver becoming ridiculous. I find the most troubling spots near Santa Fe merging onto I-25 North where it is always stop and go no matter what time of the day. What were they thinking when they constructed a 2 lane bridge merging down to 1 lane. The I-25 commute is horrendous from Denver to Thornton and Denver to Lincoln Avenue (Lone Tree area). It is stop and go most the way. Not to mention when the I-70 project starts from Denver to Tower Road, good luck to those folks traveling that nightmare for the next 10 years while under construction. I travel the country a lot for business and find Denver to have one of the worst infrastructures.

Yup it sucks. Way too much construction going on simultaneously, it has basically bottlenecked every artery through Denver.

That area is terrible. They made things so much worse by constructing that 2 lane bridge. Santa Fail indeed.

North bound I25 at Santa Fe is actually improved since 3 months ago when they added a lane south of the exit. Yes it is still bad but during the construction for all of 2013, much of 2012, and early 2014 it was even worse. I don't know if they are done, I can't figure out what the eventual plan for that area is, and if it will even help much. At this point it does not seem to have been improved any from pre construction 2011 era.

Keep in mind this area will be especially ridiculous this weekend, with I-25 being entirely closed last night, and will be again from 10 PM tonight until I believe 5 AM Monday morning. If you can avoid the whole area, do so!

Driving over I-25 today you could tell it will be much better with that 4th lane. I don't know if the volume was a little lighter because everyone knows about the closure tonight, but at 1:30pm it was moving along better than I can ever remember it on a Saturday afternoon. Now I-70 going west from Evergreen was a whole different story, the 45 minute drive to Idaho Springs took 90 minutes.

I think this happens to most cities that are growing fast. I feel like they're trying hard to accomodate the growth with constant road construction, but it's simply not quick enough.

There are 5 seasons in Denver. Spring which is too short. Summer which is not long enough. Fall just about right. Winter lasts too long, and Construction - which is year round.
