I have an old Jaguar that has been parked in my garage for 2 years and I would like to have a mechanic come and get it started (fresh fuel / battery charge / etc.). I'd like to avoid having to tow it somewhere just to get it started. Of course there are a few on craigslist but there's no way to tell if they are legit.

After sitting for two years, you're probably going to be looking at a whole new battery, new fluids all around (oil, coolant, diff, transmission), wouldn't hurt to make sure your hubs and bearings are still good on grease, new filters, check the condition of the tires, etc. Then you're going to want the interior detailed, you'll want to do a compression test on the cylinders, vacuum test on the transmission wouldn't be a bad idea..
The legit ones should have some credentials to their name... a valid employment history, certifications, etc. Lots of shade tree "mechanics" on CL.
I'm fairly new to the area, so I don't know anyone offhand. I'm a tractor-trailer mechanic... I'm sure I could do what you're seeking, but an actual auto tech would be better suited for it.
