I have been here over 15 years and I have yet to experience Casa Bonita. I got enough of it from the South Park episode.

If they could just bring the food up to "mediocre", they'd get repeat business

If you avoid Casa Bonita based on this forum you are making a mistake. My husband has been there once a year since it opened in 1974 for a birthday. I've gone once a year with him since we were married. At first I wasn't a fan because I expected good food but I always enjoyed looking around, seeing the show and going through the haunted cave. It helps to walk around with someone who knows the place because there is alot to it.

Now since I have to eat gluten free and they only have one entree gluten free I enjoy it alot more. The GF beef fajitas have always been decent to good. They bring the plates out separately as they are not prepared as part of the assembly line food prep. Neither of us has ever gotten sick as compared to trying the high end restaurants in Cherry Creek and other places where we have both gotten food poisoning.

Yes, you drive down Colfax and see what was the Bugs Bunny Motel until Warner Bros. protested the copyright infringement and is now the Big Bunny Motel.

You also see alot of other older motel signs which is kind of fun. The plaza where Casa Bonita is located is past its prime but then most shopping malls from the 70s are. Once you are inside the details in all the different dining rooms are amazing.

Here is a good description of Casa Bonita.

How to survive Casa Bonita, the world's weirdest Mexican restaurant | Westword

Many years ago as a kid, I lived in Tulsa for a year, and when we came to Denver and went to Casa Bonita, I swore to my husband that I had been to one in Oklahoma, and he said I was crazy. I remembered the guy in the gorilla suit. Apparently, I was correct.

Ain't that the truth! My son is desperate to go back, and it's a fun experience in terms of everything but the food.

Let's be honest here, that is not food.

Casa Bonita is worth visiting at least once. I was amazed at how awful the food really was. Taco Bell is gourmet in comparison. That said, you don't really go for the food but rather for the bizarre experience. Kids especially love it. Cliff divers, an arcade, a haunted cave to explore. What more could you ask for?

I've been there once in the mid 90s. My kids are 6 years old and have never been. I know, shame on me!

I don't recall getting sick from the food, but it seemed like it was about the quality of food you get at a 7-11.

So I have heard. MY wife took my daughter last year. Luckily I already had tickets to an Avalanche game that night so I got out of it.
