Convention In Denver
When is the Democratic Convention? How long is it? Would this affect the availability of rental homes in Lakewood? Thanks everyone!

http://www.demconvention.com/ - August 25-28, 2008. Lakewood may be far enough so as not to affect rentals available there.

I would think the convention will only affect hotel/motel rooms, not rentals.

I don't think there are enough hotel rooms to cover the convention. I think it's quite likely many convention groups will rent rooms on a short term basis. But I think they'll only do so within a short distance of Pepsi Center.

There was a local news report within the last month or two that states that hotels are really out of space to the point that law enforcement agencies have to look into short term rentals and find family members to share space with. So hotels and rentals will be hard to find around that time.

since the light rail goes right to the Pepsi Center, where the convention will be held, I bet hotels and house rentals along both the southeast and southwest lines will be busy.

I was living in Boston when the 2004 democratic convention was held there. A lot of locals took vacations that week or made arrangements to work at home, traffic seemed to be a lot lighter than usual and things were fairly quiet in general....

My guess is that traffic outside of Downtown denver is not going to be affected and if there are any effect on rentals it probably will be in and around central denver. I can't imagine to many out of towners no to much about the suburbs or good locations in them

I can guess that traffic to and in boulder is going to be fairly light. Boulder being a very democratic city and all ;p
