Yes, you can shoot clays at Cherry Creek State Park. The range is now run by a different owner the past couple years, and is no longer "scary".
They strictly enforce safety now, and I mean strictly. You take a step near your gun at the rifle/pistol range during non-firing times, you will get a royal arse chewing. I saw one shooter do it twice and he was shown the exit.
For sporting clays its tough to beat the Kiowa Creek Gun Club, IMHO.
