Does anyone have a neighborhood or area to suggest? My work is on Mineral Ave. Price range $800-1100.
Downtown Littleton would be a good place to start. Not really much night life, but it is a cool small town downtown neighborhood just a few miles from your work with tons of places to walk to and easy light rail access to downtown Denver.

I just got here Nov. 21st site unseen. I had only about 2 weeks to align everything and was able to do so all thru the internet. Do your research and do it well, not half-assed, and you should be able to get a lot done by the time you arrive.

What I've researched and found that might be helpful to you:

-Padmap places and use google street view to check out the area. You can find on your own some idea of the neighborhoods based on the condition of the apartments/houses the grounds (if litter is all over the place) and the kind of cars parked on the streets.
-Simple google map "apartment" search and check the apartment reviews online.

-Download the rail line map from the city rail transit authority and crosscheck with google maps for park n rides.

-Seems like the only urban nightlife is in the downtown area, serving tourists and University students, there is a light rail serving access to and from Littleton. My research indicated that all the cool apartments around downtown are treated like college dormitories, lots of beer boxes, puke, and trash all over the place so dunno if you can tolerate that, which is why I decided to live in Aurora vs. 6 blocks from work near Coors field. I need it to be quiet at my place.

-Apply for apartments and renters insurance online before or right when you get there. If you can secure it during your stay, I suggest you knock out all the essentials within the 2 weeks. You cannot change over your drivers license or open bank accounts unless you have proof of address. Getting all this done before you start helps a lot.

OP, look at the middle third of Aurora, from about 6th Ave to Iliff. Your commute will be a little longer than it needs to be, but that's the area that is most screaming out to me.

You could also look at Central Denver, but you won't get as much apartment wise.

I doubt you will find anything in your budget close to work.
