DISH is perennially one of the worst employers to work for in Denver.

Level 3 has a pretty poor employer reputation, too. They're known for a vicious cycle of staffing up and laying off.

Good to know, thanks for the heads up!

And I came a cross that article a while ago, gives some good insight to what companies are out there and what the employees think of them. Been researching all the IT companies on that list quite a bit.

You can also check glassdoor.com, but don't use it as your primary source because it seems like unless the company is really good the posters tend to be ticked-off ex-employees with an axe to grind.

That is true! I have also fond that a few employers that are clearly forcing their employees to give good reviews, based on the rating trends.

DISH is notoriously bad. I have friends that still work there because they get paid well but management is known to to watch over the employees like hawks.

All of this was unnecessary.

He just wanted to know if there were good tech companies out here in Denver that he hadn't considered. He wasn't asking for his dream job.

At the risk of sounding mean, I'd say a worthwhile company to work for is the one who is willing to hire and pay you. It's not that easy finding a first job out of school. Get some experience under you belt and you'll have more options down the road. Have you actually applied to any of the "tons of openings" that are out there? Are you getting any interviews? Any offers?

There are many start ups as well if you're interested. The Built In Denver website has great postings for lots of start up techs if you're interested. Otherwise telecom has a big presence here, Avaya, Directv, Comcast, but avoid DISH like the plague. Hope this helps to get you started.

...I'm looking for an Systems Analyst/Information Systems position, but at having trouble finding attractive companies to apply to. There are tons of openings sure, but I really want a company that provides a great environment for its employees, good work/life balance, decent pay, and plenty of room to move up in the company...

Sounds like a "dream job" to me!
