Deputy was shot by police officer during arrest of triple murder suspect | FOX31 Denver

Quote:
The officers converged on 40th Avenue and Clay Street in Denver while trying to find Furmen Leyba.
Around 3:50 p.m., they spotted Leyba, along with another person, leave a home, said Denver police.

Officers tried to talk to Leyba, but he ran away, police said, leading them on a brief foot chase.

“While the suspect was being taken into custody a Thornton officer fired his weapon and an Adams County sheriff’s deputy was struck,” Denver Police said in a statement.
That seems weird since he was taken into custody by deputy and another officer fired?
Not only criminals but looks like even LOE needs to be afraid around themselves.
Yes, I know we don't have details but still sounds off.

That's too bad. You know I always joked about how I don't like cops, but every time I hear of one dying on the job my heart breaks. Such a sad way to go and all I can do is think of their families.

In 1985 Aurora Police Officer Joseph Deitzman was killed by another Aurora Police Officer during a training exercise. It was termed "accidental," not negligent thereby preventing the filing of any criminal charges.

Don't bring Denver into this, it was a Thornton cop shooting an Adams County Sheriff, but it did physically happen in Denver.

You don't have to go that far back.
Just two years ago:
Lakewood officer killed in friendly fire incident | FOX31 Denver

Jim Davies, 35, was investigating a gunfire incident when an officer on the other side of a fence mistook him for a threat. The father of two became the first Lakewood police officer to die in the line of duty.
