Thanks again for everyone's input
It was renamed, from Jeffco to Rocky Mountain Metro. I'm not sure just when that happened.

ETA: It looks like the name change happened in 2006. At $1000/m, you might have to look at Westminster.

I know that. I am still unhappy about that.

DB, I agree. It should have been renamed Broomfield Metro.

What can you guys tell me about specific locations in the Highlands/Jefferson Park and RiNo areas? Specifically, I'm looking at:

-29th and Speer, right by Federal Blvd. (I hear Federal Blvd. can be dicey)
-About a block further west, so 28th Ave. and S. Hazel Ct.
-Around 29th/Durango/Broadway in RiNo

Also, how's the Edgewater area, near Sloan lake and West Colfax Ave.?

Your best bet is a long commute from "happenin'" Denver, or yuppie suburbia, of which there is some in/around Broomfield.
I love yuppie surburbia. I am a yuppie...

I honestly don't understand why more people don't enjoy it.

What is "yuppie suburbia"? I'm a millennial, it's TOTALLY different

Where exactly do you live though lurtsman? Any input on my situation?

I was hesitant to post this before, but since there've been some snarky responses, I'll say:

I've "read" that Edgewater is gentrifying. It might be a good place for the OP to check out. Mind you, I have no first hand experience of this. It is a cute little town.

I have friends who bought there last year. They love it.

Having lived in Broomfield, I would not want to commute to/from Edgewater. Wadsworth, Sheridan, and Federal just have too many stoplights. I did commute for awhile to I-70 and Pecos, and that was bad enough. I can't imagine doing that today.

Think about the fact that you commute to work 5 days a week, almost every week. How often will you really go to 5 Points ?? I'll bet less often than you're thinking now. Find someplace closer to work, if not Broomfield itself. Lots of apts along the north end of Wadsworth/CO Hwy 121 in Westminster/Arvada. Or around 80th and Sheridan.

OP I 100% agree that the Westminster/Arvada area is your best bet. It's located just about equal distance from both cities. If you choose an apartment close to HWY36 you will be able to easily get to both Broomfield and Denver fairly quickly. Yes Rush Hour can be a pain but you have to choose one advantage over the other in your situation. However even in rush hour you can still get to both Broomfield and Denver in 30 minutes most days with good weather. I would personally recommend the area of Westminster on the west side of HWY36 and W 80th Ave. There are lots of nice apartments and housing areas there.

Light Rail and commuter bus lines will be servicing the entire area where you will live and work in the next two years so that's also a bonus!
