Denver vs. New York City
Come on Denverites what's the best and worst of your city?
Come on New Yorkers represent the best and worst of the city?
Which is the better of the two?!?!

The best part about Denver is that there are less ex-New Yorkers in Denver than there are in Los Angeles.

What I like most about the Denver is the scale of the city. It isn't the largest, most populated city in the world, granted, so it will never really be a good match between NY and Denver but there are some upsides to it. I like the fact that eventhough its a fairly small city you can still get the big city experience without it being to overwhelming. The fact to that you can not feel so much like you are surrounded by canyons of steel and concrete.

I just caught this thread--so, you are expecting some great humorous insight in the difference between Gotham and the Queen City of the Plains.
I follow my nose; it remembers for me the events and memories of my past. When I think of New York City, I think of sauerkraut and urine. My earliest memories as a small child were of piles of steamed sauerkraut in shop windows and this has meshed with my latter working years of the smells at the Port Authority and Grand Central.
The associated smells in Denver are more of the same but of the cow variety, blended with the odor of leather and Mexican food.
So what is the preference----I would guess what urine to, because whether you are in Denver or NYC urine good company.

Born in Denver, but grew up a New Yorker. Been to Denver only once (and for a few hours only) since my birth, walked around a bit, got the gist of Downtown, but my connection to Denver is minimal apart from said origin point: New York is New York, and it scares the hell out of people who want something like Denver as their utopian vision of a city, something that's just urban enough while really being a nice collection of streets at the foot of the majestic Rockies. The mountains make Denver; the streets make New York.

No place is quite like Denver. The two cities ammenties are enjoyable to me for entirely different reasons. NYC..the best urban cosmoplitan city..amazing skyline, city landmarks ect. I appreciate Denver for what it is not in some instances. If I wanted a large city with all the ammenites I would move back to LA though (LA weather, beaches) . Denver is just small enough to avoid the huge city problems, but big enough to keep it interesting. In addition only a handfull of US cities have as scenic a MT. backdrop with world class outdoor recreation within reach.
