Hello everyone!
I am 20 years old currently living in Salt Lake City and I am thinking of moving to Colorado. I will be licensed in massage therapy in August and that is when I plan to make the move. I am planning on returning to school for marketing but not rightaway. I am looking for any input I can get. Places to live, overview of the area, job suggestions really just anything you can tell me! Thank you so much! |

jena,
what are you looking for? I mean what type of neighborhood do you prefer; the burbs or something in the central city? High rise apartment or old victorian mansion apartment? Quiet area or happening area? We can lay out the city like that if you give us ideas of what you are looking for, how much can you pay for rent, etc.? Read reply to you on my other post about living temporarily when you get here. Again, I can tell you that so far I really like the area. It really is beautiful, the city and the mountains. I love the downtown area, there is so much to do, so many different neighborhoods, and they've done so much to clean it up and make it really a nice place. I came from Sacramento, and I can explain sacramento for you in one word - boring. A lame downtown surrounded by forever sprawling suburbs. Denver seems to be the opposite. Well, there are quite a bit of suburbs here but it's not nearly as bad as California. The central city here is much much more dense with a lot going on. Anyhow, like I said give us some more info. on you and what you are looking for and we can help. Also, if you have any specific questions those are a lot easier to answer ![]() Tim |

Well I'm really not too picky at this time . I'll be renting so apt or house. I would like somewhere nice , well kept and safe, friendly people, close to things like parks, coffee shops etc. I have a dog and would like to be able to walk around a friendly neighborhood.
I would like to be more in the city and an area with character. Urban or victorian I like both. Rent wise under $900 is what I am looking for. I have been to Sacramento numerous times and I didn't like it much myself I was mostly in Modesto and hated it there. Salt Lake is really a nice place but boring. It is quiet and the people are all the same. I do love the mountains and have to be near them. I love to hike , walk and be near rivers or lakes. But I love the city and want lots of options of things to do. I want to meet new friendly people ! What are the different areas of Denver? Nice parts, bad parts. Being young and going alone I want to have a feel of areas to look or areas to avoid. And any good resorts or spas that anyone knows of. I am looking for work as a therpist and want somewhere that has high clientel. Thank you so much!! |

Sounds like you are looking for something in the city or one of the older suburbs. There is a wealth of information on this site about these areas. I would suggest a search with the following words: Neighborhoods, city, downtown, LoDo, Cap(itol) Hill, Wash(ington) Park, Platt Park , University Park, Bonnie Brae, Highlands, Berkeley, Sloan's Lake, Uptown, Cheeseman Park, Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Boulder, Aurora, Littleton, Englewood. These are all off the top of my head. Others may have more suggestions.

Ok check this out: Denver Colorado Neighborhoods
And also get out google maps or mapquest or whatever and match up that above link with the city map so you know what you're looking at. From what I know, I would steer you towards Lodo, Capital Hill, Uptown, and Golden Triangle. In Lodo you'll find mostly historic old industrial buildings converted to retail (restaurants, shops, bars) on the street level and loft condos/apartments above. I think this is where the most action is as far as nightlife. Capital Hill you'll find a mix of Victorians and old apartment buildings and a crazy mix of eclectic bars, shops, cafes, ethnic foods, etc. Still a walkable area and may be close enough to walk to downtown/Lodo. Uptown I haven't really figured it out yet. It seems to be mostly dense mid-rise apartments/condos and a bit newer. Maybe more upscale then Lodo and Cap Hill? Still has local food/bars on street level and has a Safeway. Golden Triangle I haven't really explored yet. I just hear it is nice and the most expensive of the downtown areas. And that it has a nice established neighborhood feel. Anyway, those are the central/downtown areas I would look at. There are plenty of other nice places but they will be more residential or in the burbs. Hope that helps. Also, just for fun, check out this website for some really cool pictures of Denver: Denver Colorado: Urban Photos: Black and White City Stock, Skyline, and Aerial Photography |

Thank you so much!
I have a better feel for areas now . I checked out that site and looked around on here to see what others had to say about some of the areas you suggested. I'm thinking of transferring mid May for my last quarter , my lease is up here at that time and I will only have one quarter left. The campus is in Aurora so I will try to find somewhere close. Thanks again! |

The school I attend has a two locations in Denver area , I can transfer to any location as long as it is at the quarter and I don't have anything missing. Thank you though I'll be sure to talk to them in advanced.
